The Kellogg Center at Michigan State University!
The rest of you studied hard, and did a fine job on your assignments. You all have passed the course.
Here are your essays . . .
WHERE IN THE WORLD
IS THE TFR??
TEAM OT ESSAY
When Team OT read Miss Nelson, we were sure the answer was
on page 27 and lead us to The Swiss Valley Ski Area in Jones, Michigan.
But, then, to assignment 2, – the geography assignment. Larry, complete with one eye during his
infamous shingles episode, lead this assignment for Team OT by doing the
research. Team OT discovered that
the first 9 questions related to states that held Big Ten Universities. The only state that was missing was
Michigan. Knowing Corey’s love of
MSU, we concluded that the TFR was to be held in Michigan and specifically at
the Kellogg Center on the campus of MSU in East Lansing, Michigan.
Now math – not Team OT’s long suit! Thank goodness for the computer! The answers to the math questions
showed that 1855 is the date MSU was founded, 1907 is the year East Lansing was
established as a city and 1837 is the date Michigan became a state. Last but not least, 1951 is the year
the Kellogg Center opened for business – get this – on September 17th. Could the answer be more clear???
This confirms that Team OT believes that the TFR is indeed
at the Kellogg Center at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan.
Confidently, TEAM OT

We have to admit you have us pretty well stumped. We've
made guesses each time but each clue seems to send us in a new direction. The
geography questions led us to the Midwest, so we are sure it will be in
Michigan or a nearby state. But the math question didn't shed any more light.
Hmmmm.
So, unfortunately for us, we can't totally complete this
assignment. But, we can't wait to hear the real location! Consider unveiling it
on July fourth!
Hats off to professors Niki, Corey, Charlotte and Peter!
Well done clues!
Love, TEAM GR

We suggest that the 2012 Taylor Family Reunion will take
be held on the Michigan State Campus at the McGregor Center. This place was
chosen because the University of Michigan will be the Big 10 and National Football
Champion this year and MSU will be second. So this will be an appropriate time
for all of the Taylor Family MSU Grads to show appropriate respect for Ole
Grandpa's Alma Mater.
You would think such that a celebration would be held in
Ann Arbor. But because of the Championship the Union is all booked so second best has
to be accepted. Besides, Ole Grandpa has probably spent more time on the MSU
Campus than he has in AA. So he probably doesn't know the Quad from the Big House.
All he knows about AA is the Brown Jug where he spent most of his time
drinking (coffee). So you wouldn't want Ole Grandpa to get lost, would you!!
We are really looking forward to our Reunion with our ever
growing family!!
Respectfully submitted,
The SC Taylors

R-emembering back to our first clue, we thought we were
heading to a college town-- everyone was wearing university shirts and diplomas
hung proudly on the wall.
E-rin hoped our book clue might lead us to Prince Edward
Island, but alas we believe everyone's books also pointed to a college town.
U-ntil we got the clues about Big 10 states. Big 10 HQ is
outside of Chicago, were we heading there?
N-ashville or the Smokey Mountains have always been
options, but someone let slip that he might have to fly to join us at our
reunion locale;-)
I-nstead what about somewhere even further south?
O-rlando, how about it? The Magic Kingdom is 1951km from
Lansing, the answer to one of the Math clues.
N-o, we're a Michigan family and we still think we are
heading to the Kellogg Center in East Lansing!

TEAM PA ESSAY
The 2012 reunion with Corey and Niki in charge
meant anything was possible, even sleeping on a barge.
But the clues had a pattern with each assignment that
came,
so we crossed the Smokey Mountains off our list, and
Franklin the same.
With help from the lab monkey, our racy book, and Google
knowledge,
we knew we were heading to a state with a Big Ten college.
Nebraska or Iowa would have been nice for a party,
But for the TFR we decided we were going to the home of
Sparty!
So, Team PA's final guess (based more in theory than fact)
is the Great Lakes State (Birchwood Farms to be exact)!

Right in Front of our Eyes
The homework assignments were challenging, testing our
math, geography, history and research skills. But the big question still
remains, Where will we be on January 1, 2013?
Seemingly, we won't be in the South, the Far West or even New England. Each assignment put us squarely in Big Ten Country, but where in Big Ten Country? It is tempting to make the leap and say we will be in Pasadena, California but we don't think the Professors would want the potential wrath of a bunch of MSU fans being stuck in Pasadena having to watch UM play football. But wait, is there a Pasadena, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, or in any other Big Ten State? Surprisingly, that is a NO, 11 times over.
After much thought, the TC Taylor's could not come up with
a suitable answer. After reviewing the tests and the original assignment,
it hit us. Maybe the answer was with us since Wednesday, December 21, 2011- the
day of the first assignment video. Between the carrying on of the teaching
Assistant and the Lab Monkey, stood two t-shirst and two words;
Northwestern and Indiana. Northwestern and Indiana- two fine Big
Ten Institutions. But how about Northwestern Indiana?
Since we thankfully believe we can rule out the lovely
metropolis of Gary, Indiana, the search was on for a TFR-like hotel, Inn, or
home.
This lead us to the community of Chesterton and the lovely
Gray Goose Inn.
The TC Taylor's declare that the 2012-2013 Taylor Family
Reunion will be held at the Gray Goose Inn in Chesterton, Indiana.
You can save your applause for December!!!!
GO RIGHT THROUGH FOR MSU! Well done planners!
ReplyDeleteI seem to remember Ellie being able to sing the fight song at the ripe old age of 2 or 3. Charlotte, Peter, Quinn, and Maisie better get practicing to be our evening entertainment.
Yay!!! Great job to our professors and fellow students! Impressive essays! Could this be the first TFR that includes a couch burning?! Can't wait to spend New Years with everyone. -KT
ReplyDeletethe PA Taylors send kudos to the 2012-13 planning committee!!! Selling, buying, packing, traveling, job changing, planning, planning, planning!!! You are our heros!!! Job well done!!! Looking forward to our reunion!!! xoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteSo do we now have two Rochester Stringers or one Rochester and one Oakland Township. (I know you could both be Oakland Township). What are the actual Reunion Dates?
ReplyDeleteThanks- TC Taylors.
